Isolation Day 6:⁣

Saturday. The weekend. And we definitely had weekend vibes. Firstly, it was nice to have Sean around the whole day. He’s been working at the hospital, as you’d expect. I’ve been navigating the challenging trifecta (parenting, homeschooling, and working) of these days on my own. So it’s been great having Sean home to help me keep perspective, to find the humor in these weird and ominous times, and to remind me to ignore the kids when they’re being primal cave beasts and to not take their outbursts or sass as personal attacks. Except that time that Thora tried to wrestle me. That was kind of attack-y. But anyway, it’s good to have an adult ally in the bubble! ⁣

Auric and I started session one of a 4 week running plan. We were quite stoked when it was over — hence the smiles. (3 minutes of hard running is hard!) ⁣

The kids did some school work, even though technically we’re in school holidays. But none of us know what day it is, so school work happens when it happens. ⁣

I had some alone time (a whole 3 meters away from my kids for entire 30 second intervals) with my current crochet project, accompanied by a coffee and a very amusing comedy/history podcast called The Dollop (on Spotify). If you’re keen, start with episode 3 on competitive tickling. ⁣

The kids numbed out with Rush Hour. Ummm... if you don’t want to remember how much this script relies on racism, perhaps avoid this trip down racist nostalgia lane. ⁣

I included the “before” of the "before" and “after” of my pantry clean out. Tomorrow’s job for sure! ⁣

Then after a dinner of Cleaning Out the Fridge, we started a new (old) series with the kids with Veronica Mars, and then topped that off with a Wallace & Grommet and another Monty Python. ⁣

Thora’s hair is remarkable in that it is a nest of wild curls and dread locks. ⁣

But I raked my fingers through the fern branches of one of my favorite plant babies so I feel like a good mom. ⁣

And lastly, Zorro, our beloved but independent and hardly-photographed fur baby in our nightly cuddle session. ⁣

Night night all. Stay safe. Stay home. Keep being awesome by stopping the spread. ⁣

Isolation Day 9:⁣ ⁣ Lots of family exercise in our house today. ⁣ ⁣ 🚢‍♂️A long walk for Sean (rehabbing a strained calf).⁣ ⁣ πŸƒ‍♀️A hill repeat session from a 4-week running program for me. ⁣ ⁣ πŸ’ͺThora busted out another session of her school’s distance learning PE homework. ⁣ ⁣ πŸƒ‍♂️🚴‍♂️🏊‍♂️ But Auric showed us all up by out of the blue, completing a solo DIY triathlon. He went for an out and back run down the road in one direction, collected his bike at our driveway for a ride up the road in the other direction, finishing up with several laps in the pool. ⁣ But that wasn’t it. I came back from my exercise just in time to see The Fightin’ Pococks’ Makeshift Gym. ⁣ Sean and Auric had played the time-honored game, “Fill These Bags with Stuff!” in order to improvise weights.⁣ ⁣ Thora joined in too for some duffel bag lifting, thera-band pulling, and toilet paper barbells. You know, your classic gym equipment.⁣ ⁣ And speaking of Thora, you may be wondering where she is in all these upd...

Isolation Day  8:  Boys be like: let me communicate with you through these tricks that I’ve been working on . ⁣ ⁣ So here are some back flips for his cousin in France. ⁣ ⁣ And before you say anything, yes we should power wash that tramp and perhaps tuck those poles into the net, but I mean who’s got time for that?  #akidslife

Isolation Day 11:⁣ ⁣⁣ Things (besides working from home) that happened today. ⁣ ⁣ • an early trip to the store ⁣ • a (relatively) clean body means a new tattoo canvas⁣ • sibling cuddles⁣ • half-assed yoga⁣ • 2 dog walks⁣ • dropping off groceries to an older neighbor and chatting with him for a bit⁣ • Meals are whatever, however⁣ • Reading! ⁣ • some good progress on the Isolation Pantry Cleanout⁣ • though there is still a disheartening amount of pantry detritus everywhere⁣ • Auric and Thora cooked dinner while I had a zoom happy hour with workmates.⁣ • Auric’s first attempt at homemade sushi wasn’t too shabby. Have a good day/night everyone!
