Isolation Day 5:
Spirits weren’t quite as high and goofy today but I showered so that was a huge plus... apparently for everybody.
And I continued wearing the items that I can’t ever find the right opportunity to wear but also can’t part with. Today’s item: a tunic that @nunucathy and I bought in an Indian market in NYC when I was pregnant with Thora.
Neighbors are unloading their overwhelming harvests of feijoas and pears and avocados. Gratefully, I cored twenty straight minutes worth of feijoas. We’re ready to make apple and feijoa loaf tomorrow, and everyday for the next million days.
We walked and biked and jogged our street. We Skyped with Sean’s brother’s family in France! The boys now have a tramp-jumping duel arranged via video. Sounds intense.
An elderly neighbor reached out in response to the notes we left in the mailboxes on our streets. His wife has gone into hospital due to a fall yesterday. He can’t visit her. His grown daughters all live in other cities. After making touch one of with his daughter who orders his online groceries and phones him everyday, I'll also be a local touch point for him. We feel for this man who we don’t know and is only a sweet voice on the line. He may be receiving some feijoa loaf (we’ll double check the safety of cooking for neighbors before we deliver anything).
The day ended with us thinking about our first post-lockdown trip to the store. The kids poured over cookbooks and picked out recipes that they want to make (or boss everyone around to make).
The night ended with a family movie night of Shaun the Sheep and then some impromptu introduction of the old Monty Python tv show. Auric was so unimpressed and confused that he stormed out in a huff, telling us how dumb and boring it was. He ended up giggling hysterically at the faux serious interview of a man with 3 buttocks. He always seems to forget that we’ve known him for 10 years and we know what he likes.
