Isolation Day 8:
Through the eyes of the luckiest, cutest, sometimes the saddest puppy dog in all the land. She makes us smile. She makes our hearts melt. She makes us say, “Awww, will you just look at that face?”
Today started with buckets of chubby rain... which reminds me, I need to see if I can get my hands on the Steve Martin / Eddie Murphy comedy “Bowfinger”. I digress ...
Photo one: it’s like she knows about stacking and also color-blocking. What else does she know? π€πππ
Photo 2: Lucy is a princess who doesn’t like to go out in the rain. She will hold her business for an amount of time that convinces you she’s definitely gone in the house. But she hasn’t. This morning I stood outside with her in the aforementioned chubby rain, with an umbrella, sometimes getting wet so that she could be dry, in an attempt to please just hurry up. No luck, so out she went on the long line where despite looking very sad, eventually she sucked it up and found a spot on the grass to do her business.
Photos 3&4: This is one of her top 5 favorite places to be, chin on thigh while you’re sitting at the dining room table.
Photo 5: it was really wet during the first part of the day. We all felt like Lucy. Except for Thora, who was still asleep. She keeps Hollywood Diva hours, apparently.

This is also one of my top 5 sights in the world, particularly when I’m working from home.
Photo 6: look who roused herself! They actually had a pretty good day together. Can you believe this game of Rat-a-tat Cat didn’t end in tears or physical violence?!? I can’t and I was there!
Photo 7: tonight’s dinner was brought to us by Chef Thora and Sous Chef Auric and newly hired errand girl, Me. Thora made a delicious meal of sesame-crusted pan fried fish. I made up a big batch of potato leek soup in the afternoon, so we were fancy and had a soup course. Do you think we had enough? Lucy got a lot of those little broken bits.
Not pictured: the surprisingly good family movie, “Fighting with your Family,” a true story about an English family of pro wrestlers and the daughter who gets a shot at the big leagues in the WWE.
