Isolation Day 9: Lots of family exercise in our house today. πΆ♂️A long walk for Sean (rehabbing a strained calf). π♀️A hill repeat session from a 4-week running program for me. πͺThora busted out another session of her school’s distance learning PE homework. π♂️π΄♂️π♂️ But Auric showed us all up by out of the blue, completing a solo DIY triathlon. He went for an out and back run down the road in one direction, collected his bike at our driveway for a ride up the road in the other direction, finishing up with several laps in the pool. But that wasn’t it. I came back from my exercise just in time to see The Fightin’ Pococks’ Makeshift Gym. Sean and Auric had played the time-honored game, “Fill These Bags with Stuff!” in order to improvise weights. Thora joined in too for some duffel bag lifting, thera-band pulling, and toilet paper barbells. You know, your classic gym equipment. In late March 2020, our small island nation of New Zealand went into full Lockdown to eliminate the Covid19 virus. We were instructed to isolate in our bubbles, except for essential needs. We were housebound -- just the four of us. I didn't start out thinking I would post daily updates. But after a few days, I realised that looking for highlights to make up the content of that day's posts forced me look for the humour in these anxious and extraordinary times.
